Our dentist, Dr. Frederick Prehn, is proud to offer many different dental treatments at Prehn Dental Offices to help you prevent oral diseases and maintain a top-notch smile and oral health. However, those treatments aren’t successful without your help. This is why our dentist strongly encourages you to do everything at home to keep oral disease at bay. To help you do so, he encourages you to do the following things:
-Keep up on oral hygiene: To do so, you need to brush twice a day (with a soft-bristled toothbrush and fluoride toothpaste), floss once a day (with a flossing product of your choice), rinse once a day (with antibacterial or fluoride mouthwash) and attend your checkups every six months. These tasks can help you remove the dangerous substances from your teeth and gums that promote oral disease.
-Watch what you eat: Eating tooth-healthy foods can help you get the nutrients you need to prevent gum disease. So, do your best to eat foods like dairy products, fruits, vegetables and protein and do your best to avoid sugary, acidic and high-carbohydrate foods.
-Avoid tobacco products: Tobacco use can cause bad breath, cavities, gum disease, oral cancer and even lung and other health problems. It’s very important to avoid tobacco use altogether.
