Dental Implants

Back in 1985, a colleague of mine—Dr. John Stilp and I performed the first dental implant in Wausau, WI that I know of.  I just saw that patient today for a routine cleaning appointment and the implant is still “going strong”.  I look back at the 24 years of performing dental implants and it is remarkable how things have changed so dramatically.  Last week I referred a patient for dental implant placement, who four years ago was told he could not have an implant, but with the new technologies and the types of implants we can now place an implant in the site without grafting as previously predicated.  Today we have scan imaging that helps us determine ahead of time whether implants are possible.  Dental implants sure changes people’s lives!  This is a great option for many patients restoring lost or missing teeth.
