I have many new parents ask when is the appropriate time to bring in their child for their 1st dental check up. At Prehn  Dental, we like to recommend age 3 as a good starting point.  Of course, it also depends on your child's temperment and cooperation level.  I have seen some as early as age 2. I you suspect any problems before this, by all means bring your child in.  I also tell parents to bring along their toddler to one of their prophy appointments  so I can give the child a ride in the chair, show them Mr. Thirsty straw and have them just check out the place.  I want the child to have a comfortable and pleasant time. The first visit can set the tone for the rest of their dental experiences.
