Aurora's Trip to Nepal
August 27, 2009 @ 12:23 PM — by Frederick Prehn, D.D.S.
- An eco-friendly, mostly self sufficient Santi-Sewa-Greha has been serving Kathmandu's local population for approx. ten years. Starting out as a leprosy colony, it now serves all who need its services.
- During my stay in Nepal my traveling group and I volunteered our time to help them for three days. In the course of those three days I demonstrated how to brush one's teeth and stressed proper tooth brush care. Before I left the country I managed to donate, in Prehn Dental's name, enough Rupees to buy each child living at the colony one toothbrush; hopefully with enough extra to buy backups for the staff to keep in the Clinic that is run on site.
- The pictures you see are the results of the donation. The manager was kind enough to follow through on my request and take photos to preserve the memories of the countless children's faces.
